A Fighting Fantasy inspired gamebook

The Last Lander

Sale Moor, 1985. The mustardy smell of well-worn carpet. Forty p in your pocket and, at the back past the dicky Galaxian, a black cabinet with no cover art or brand — just a screen showing a tiny ship falling forever toward a grey moon that never quite arrives, and the name: The Last Lander.

Nobody knows who put it here

THE LAST LANDER

This is a choose-your-own adventure in the old Fighting Fantasy tradition — you read a passage, you make a decision, and sometimes the dice decide. First you roll a flight profile (SKILL, STAMINA, LUCK); then the night takes you where it takes you.

  • Roll your pilot. Three dice roll three stats. Once they’re set, they’re set.
  • Hold your nerve. One clean touchdown stands between you and a record no one has ever seen.
  • Chapter One is free. No account, no coin. It saves as you go, come back and it remembers.

Your best mate Martin is holding your coat. He believes in you more than is strictly sensible.
