Atari's 16-bit machine landed with a feature no rival could match at the price: built-in MIDI ports, which made the ST a fixture in recording studios as much as bedrooms. In Britain it fought a long and friendly war with the Amiga, usually undercutting it and often getting the same games a little flatter and a little sooner. Its clean mono monitor made it a serious tool too. The titles below capture that rivalry, and boxed ST software is quietly collectable.
